A comment that was made in this clip really hit me, the fact that this was not a black and white war. Whenever I think of WWI, I always think of black and white pictures and films and always felt a weird disconnect from it. But the coloring of this really made it human for me. The men that fought in it were not just faded, poor quality black and white images, but they had life in them. It made it seem all a little less cold to me and more human. It for sure brought me out of a historical reading of the war and more into a realistic reading of it.
